The sun filters through the warm blue-green waters. The only sound you hear is your own breathing. From the depths, a large barracuda glides by and then a squirrel fish and a red snapper. You swim deeper to get a better look at the dazzling colours of the beautiful yet fragile Cabecera de Los Roques barrier reef. You are taking a fantastic voyage into one of the world’s most spectacular locations for scuba diving and snorkelling. You are experiencing one of the few eco-diving destinations in the world today.

Upon arrival, discuss your options of tours/trips with our representatives. Maybe fish, relax on a beautiful sandy beach, look for starfish, or visit Dos Mosquises where there is a turtle research program. Nearby are the islands of Crasqui, Francisqui y Madrisqui and Dos Mosquises is a little further (probably best visited on day 2).

Umbrellas, chairs, plus cooler will usually be provided (you buy the alcohol of choice before leaving Gran Roque) and the fishing (by permit) at each location is really good.
Upon return to Gran Roque you will have time free to wander or relax prior to an early evening dinner.
Breakfast before departing on a day trip to another island of your choice, obviously our local representatives will assist with your choice and departure. Options of tours/trips others you may be offered are a starfish tour or visit the islands of Crasqui, Francisqui y Madrisqui to fish or relax, or both.
OPTIONAL TOUR (extra cost) – Dos Mosquises
Maybe visit Dos Mosquises Island, about a one hour or so boat ride (check out the weather conditions before signing up). The waters surrounding the island make for a delightful morning of snorkeling and diving, after which we will visit the Dos Mosquises Biological Station and the Caribbean Turtle preservation program.
Following lunch on Dos Mosquises we will take a little time to relax and enjoy the beach before returning to Gran Roque.
Breakfast maybe visit another island or simply spend the day lazing around Gran Roque. There is a spa nearby and walks up to the lighthouse overlooking the archipelago – amazing vistas are available from there, it’s a great place for photo opportunities and to get some exercise other than perhaps snorkelling. Lunch may be provided depending upon the time of your flight, pack and return to the airport for your return flight (allow 90 minutes).
Notes: Gran Roque island has various restaurants (although most programs are pretty much all inclusive), an “Ambulatorio”, various stores, a dive business and even a spa for haircuts and massages. Even one or two of the islands visited will have facilities IF you wish to partake in some fresh seafood and maybe even a lobster in season.
Charter boat services with captain are also available in order to know other islands in the archipelago at an extra cost. Even rent a kayak to for just enjoy exploring close to Gran Roque – you may fish from your kayak too for large sport fish such as tarpon (in season).
Other excursions / options can be arranged once in Los Roques for an extra charge such as kite/windsurfing, kayaking, diving, snorkelling etc.
Trips run year-round. Departures can be arranged from Caracas.

Once you reach Gran Roque (the main island) you will have to walk to your posada. Distances are very short, probably 3 – 5minutes by foot.
Boats in Los Roques are made of fibre glass with 150HP or more out of wood. They are operated by locals.
