You must have a COVID test with a negative result (maximum 72 hours before your flight to Canaima National Park) issued by a laboratory with a Venezuelan license. You may need to take a test with local authorities right after your arrival to Venezuela.
A special trek that takes you to the Lost World as Roraima is considered to be known as.
Hike and trek to the summit and experience for yourself the spectacular landscapes, a crystal valley, spectacular views and strange creatures that live atop the tepui. This is a great trek for adventurous and fit travellers.
Roraima shares a triple border with Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil. One can reach a point on the tepui to physically see this point which is called the “triple point” – it’s truly an amazing sight.
We will drive from Santa Elena to Parai Tepui then hike about 5 hours through open savannah before reaching Kukenan Camp at a height of 1,050m. You will cross two rivers which can be difficult when the Kukenan river rises after rainfall.
Our guide and porters will set up the camp for a nice dinner in the foothills of Roraima. (14 kilometers hike/ 5 hours / all meals).
Today we will hike 10 km to Roraima’s base camp, located at 1,850 meters above sea level, crossing lowland savannah and beautiful landscapes covered with orchids and unique plant life. Spectacular views everywhere, highlighted by the two tabletop mountains in the distance.
On arrival at base camp you may like to take a refreshing swim in the river close by (about 5 hours hiking, all meals).
Leaving base camp we hike about 3 hours (1,5kms) to the top of The Lost World at 2,700m. An exhilarating hike with spectacular views and an overwhelming number of ferns, bromeliads and other rare plants. The sheer wall of Roraima is a tough climb to the summit at 2,700m. The path continues through rain forest and up to the plateau, where there are interesting rock formations, the result of 2 billion years of erosion! The prehistoric and unusual plants on the summit are a wonder to behold.
Our tents will be set up in natural caves for two nights, providing protection from the frequent mists and showers on top. (All meals)
We will explore the fantasy land atop Roraima whose summit is 45 kilometres long and 20 kilometres wide. We will visit the Crystal Valley where we find strange and beautiful quartz rocks and a bizarre landscape, hiking up and down, crossing creeks and boggy terrain, passing through natural labyrinths with great views the Gran Sabana and Kukenan Tepui window, enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural jacuzzi with red, sand and golden colours on its waters.
Overnight in tents set in a natural cavity. (All meals).
We will walk about 4 hours to Parai Tepui. From Para Tepui we will be picked up and return to Santa Elena for overnight.
Overnight and overnight in comfortable posada. (All meals)
Fresh water dip on the summit. Not for the faint hearted!
